66NOR has a vast and versatile product range of unmatched quality fresh fish and seafood. Our main products are e.g. coast cod, Atlantic salmon, cold water shrimps, turbot, halibut, and lumpfish. Our specialties are e.g. live king crab, brown crab, lobster, and razor clam.

 

The 66NOR assortment reflects natural variations and includes coveted fish, such as skrei, and other seasonal fish according to sesongkalender.noWe deliver both live, fresh and processed fish and seafood and we always welcome a challenge e.g. providing specialties like live sea urchins.

 

All fish and seafood products live up to the standards of Seafood Norway thereby qualifying for the use of the quality label and trademark owned by the organization.

coast 

Cod

The coast cod is a common name for various populations of cod, each with its migration patterns and spawning areas.

 

Coastal Cod consists of several stocks, which in turn can be divided into coast cod north of 62N, coast cod south of 62N, and cod in the North Sea, Skagerrak, and the eastern part of the English Channel. The commercial fishery for Norwegian coast cod is done mostly with passive gears such as nets and line, but some are also caught with trawl.

 

The northeast Atlantic cod population is large, and fishery in the area is MSC certified.

 

An old rule of thumb says that cod have excellent quality in all months with "r."

 

Apart from fresh coast cod, 66NOR can deliver more than 27 other high-quality cod products e.g. smoked cod fillet, cod tongues, and cod cheeks.

Shrimp

Shrimps are located along the coast, both in the fjords and out in the sea.

 

The most common species is Pandalus Borealis – a deep-water prawn living on the soft bottom in relatively deep water. They move up and down in the water masses depending on light conditions but also do horizontal migrations to other areas.

The shrimp is always male when it is hatched but changes gender to female when it is two to four years. Large shrimps are therefore always females.

 

The mature shrimp spawn in the fall. The roe is carried under the tail and will hatch after five to nine months. Growth and maturation cycle varies considerably between different areas. Due to the cold waters in the northern regions, the shrimps grow more slowly than in the south, giving them a light salty flavor and a significant fresh and exquisite texture.

Atlantic salmon

The Atlantic salmon occurs in the North Atlantic and is considered to be the finest sort of salmon. It takes two to three years from the salmon roe hatch to the salmon is ready to eat.

 

It is an anadromous fish, which means that it spends the fry stage in freshwater and the adult life in saltwater. For wild salmon, this means that it hatches and grows big in rivers and then in search of food, migrates to the sea.

 

The quality of Norwegian Atlantic salmon is so high that it can be eaten raw.

 

Apart from fresh salmon, 66NOR can deliver more than 35 other high-quality salmon products e.g. chili and mango marinated salmon, salmon roe, and hot smoked salmon.

King crab 

The king crab is originally from the North Pacific, but was put out in Russian waters near the Kola Peninsula in the period 1961-1969.

 

The king crabs established a large population in the entire area towards Northern Norway including the Varangerfjord witch has a quite dense population.

The king crab is the largest crustacean in Norwegian waters.

Specialities 

Our product range reflects the natural seasonal variations and includes sought-after specialties such as skrei.

 

Skrei is seasonal Norwegian cod at its very best. It is only available in the winter season from January to April along the Norwegian coast. The cod spends most of its life in the nutrient-rich Barents Sea, but when it reaches maturity at around 5 years old, it migrates back to its birthplace to spawn. Skrei is, therefore, a Norwegian cod in the prime of its life.

 

Apart from skrei 66NOR can deliver other specialties e.g. lumpfish roe, scallops, and oysters.
